- Supreme Court has given a four week notice to senior BJP leader L K Advani and 19 others to reply on a CBI petition challenging the 2010 Allahabad High Court order discharging them of criminal conspiracy in the case of demolition of a disputed structure in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.
- International Cricket Council president Mustafa Kamal announced his resignation on Wednesday, accusing colleagues within the game's global body of acting "unlawfully". - Andhra Pradesh’s government on Wednesday formally decided to name its proposed capital “Amravati”, after the capital of the historical Satavahana Kingdom.
- India has successfully test-fired nuclear warhead-capable Agni-III ballistic missile. The indigenously developed surface-to-surface missile was test fired from a mobile launcher at Wheeler Island off the Odisha coast by the army. AGNI III has a strike range of more than 3,000 km.
- World Bank predicts 8 per cent GDP growth rate for India by 2017, says strong expansion in the country, coupled with favourable oil prices, will accelerate economic growth in South Asia. The World Bank has predicted a GDP growth rate of 8 per cent for India by 2017 and said that a strong expansion in the country, coupled with favourable oil prices, would accelerate the economic growth in South Asia.

- NASA has released a new image taken by spacecraft New Horizons which is nearing Pluto. On July 14, NASA's probe is expected to fly within 10,000 km of the dwarf planet after a nine-year journey.
- A day after e-commerce major Flipkart walked out from Airtel Zero, online travel services provider Cleartrip yesterday pulled out of Facebook and Reliance Communications promoted platform Internet.org amid raging debate over Net neutrality
- Ministry for Development of North East Region (DoNER) headed by its Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, has received the Union Ministry of Information Technology (IT) Award for outstanding Website content. The Award titled “Web Ratna Award 2014” under the category of outstanding content was conferred here in recognition of the exemplary efforts made by the DoNER Ministry for promoting e-governance initiatives.
