Government of Rajasthan and Asian Development Bank signed an MoU of approx. 4800 cr. for water management related work in urban areas under the phase third of Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP). Asian development bank will provide loan assistance for this propose in 12 districts of Rajasthan where population is more then 100000, namely Sriganganagar, Hanumungarh, Jhunjhunu, Pali,, Blilwara Tonk,Nagur, Banswara, Sirohi (Mount-Abu), and Bikaner in coming four years. The MoU sign ceremony has been held in New Delhi on Friday, signatory were Ms. K.Kho, Country head of ADB, Shri Raj kumar, Joint Secretary in Union Ministry of finance and as a representative of Govt. of Rajasthan Shri Manjit Singh Principal Secretary, Local Self & Naveen Mahajan, Program Director of RUDIP. After MoU signed ceremony, shri Manjit Singh said, under this RUIDP Phase third programme work will be related to water management only. Water supply work to include distribution network improvement, 24 hour water supply, 100 % coverage by water supply distribution system and metered house service connection etc. He said that work contract are on integrated approach basis having water supply, sewerage and road restoration work under single contract (one contract in one city approach). Shri Singh said that ADB will provide program loan for implementation of policy reforms in urban sector that program loan will be a budgetary support to the state government proposed to be released in two tranches each of 125 Million US dollar. First installment is likely to be received in Dec. 2015. He said, Govt. of Rajasthan will meet all policy reform requirements by the scheduled time of Dec. 2015 for first tranche release and by Dec. 2017 for second tranche release.
